The Friends of St. Giles was founded in the 1980s to help raise funds for the repair and maintenance of St. Giles. It is a registered Charity No. 295291 and its funds are not spent on the religious activities at St. Giles. It recognises that St. Giles has always been a community building and is an important part of the history of the area.

It is managed by a committee which is elected annually. Recent fundraising events have included: A Son et Lumière; A performance in the Church of Mozart's Cosi Fan Tutti; A performance by the Guildhall School of Music; A talk on Sir George Gilbert Scott by Gavin Stamp.

The Friends have contributed over £40,000 to the restoration of St. Giles.
